The Organic Acid Test examines metabolites found in a patient's urine that are byproducts and intermediates of cellular and gut microbiome metabolism. It can reveal imbalances in metabolic pathways, nutritional imbalances, mitochondrial dysfunction, urea cycle imbalance, oxidative stress as well as abnormal gastrointestinal microbial dysbiosis and malabsorption in the small and large intestines. It's extremely useful for helping children with autism, Down syndrome and other neurodevelopmental issues. The organic acid test can help guide an experienced physician in making recommendations regarding diet, supplementation and other treatment.
