Organic Acid Testing

The Organic Acid Test analyzes metabolites in a patient’s urine, which are byproducts of cellular and gut microbiome metabolism. This test can identify imbalances in metabolic pathways, nutritional deficiencies, mitochondrial dysfunction, urea cycle imbalances, oxidative stress, as well as abnormal microbial dysbiosis and malabsorption in the intestines. It's especially valuable for supporting children with autism and Down syndrome, providing insights that help guide experienced physicians in recommending personalized treatments, including dietary changes, supplementation, and other interventions.

It's a common misconception that every child with an extra copy of chromosome 21 has the same biochemical, vitamin, and nutritional needs. In reality, each child is as wonderfully unique as anyone else. Various factors influence their health, cognition, and vitamin requirements, including the condition of their microbiome and their other 45 chromosomes. While the extra chromosome undeniably affects biochemical processes, it’s crucial to consider it alongside other physiological factors when determining appropriate supplements for these children. This holistic approach ensures a more personalized and effective support for their overall well-being.
