Electrolyte Replacement Drink

Picture
This drink recipe replaces Pedialyte that contains food coloring and weird flavorings like "bubble gum".  It's better for hydrating than plain water.  Optimizing the body's levels of electrolytes and salt ensures that the body will be able to retain the fluids that are taken in.

1 empty quart container
1/2 c. fruit juice
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1.5 Tbsp. sugar

Fill empty quart container with ingredients.  Stir until sugar, salt and baking soda are dissolved.  Fill the rest of the container with drinking water.

Tip:  You can cut down on the amount of sugar if using sweeter juices like grape or apple.  Freeze this into popsicles to use when it is necessary to hydrate slowly as in times of vomiting.
