Dr. Knapp joined the Peirson Center for Children in 2016 to specialize in the treatment of children and adults with Down syndrome and autism and assist women with fertility challenges and pre-partum health. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science at Colorado College, she completed her education at the renowned National University of Natural Medicine. She received her Naturopathic Doctorate degree while also obtaining a certificate in Natural Childbirth, honing her skills and knowledge precepting with naturopathic midwives in areas as diverse as conception counseling, pre- and post-partum care and managing behavioral challenges in children of all ages. After working for three years working in Family Practice, she now works with Dr. Peirson on optimizing the health of children and adults with special needs, including Down syndrome and autism, with a focus on thyroid and digestive support.
In addition, Dr Knapp is also passionate about working with fertility and conception counseling. Between her education as a Naturopathic Midwife, research in the field of epigenetics and her own challenges with conception, she has developed a deep understanding of the underlying issues that may affect conception. Dr Knapp can analyze the conventional fertility labs and imaging, as well as, determine if additional, underlying labs should be addressed. Dr Knapp is determined to find the root cause of fertility challenges and support each partnership in achieving a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.
Dr. Knapp’s early experiences shaped her career. She had her own health challenges as a child, and credits her mother's diligent application of naturopathic treatments and principles as instrumental in her healing. In addition, attending a weekly drum circle at a beach allowed her to connect with the special needs community, and sharing dance and music created a kinship and helped her realize how much she was able to learn from this community. Her journey to help people maximize their function, health and happiness was fueled by this experience.
In her free time, Dr. Knapp loves to spend time with her husband and two children, and enjoys cooking, reading and the outdoors.
